India is to become the most populated country of the world by 2050 and would leave China behind in this respect. India is one of those 8 countries whose population is growing by leaps and bounds. The present population of India is one billion and 19 crore whereas China’population is one billion and 30 crore
About 97 percent of population explosion is taking place in African, Asian and Latin American countries.
One of the main reason for this rapid increase in population is that if on the one hand due to better Medicare the mortality rate has dropped considerably, on the other there has been monumental increase in birth rate.
The birth rate in Africa is increasing annually by 3 percent whereas in Asian countries it has been registering increase of 2. 8 percent annually. In Pakistan it has been increasing annually by 3. 2 percent.

The issue was serious even at that time but it wasn’t as serious as it is today. The powers that be would have to take the religious bigwigs on board and launch a concerted campaign in this respect otherwise all the developmental projects might go down the drain.
POSTSCRIPT: it is heartening to see return of international cricket to Pakistan after s long hiatus. Let us hope that following in the footsteps of Bangla Desh and Sri Lanka Cricket teams of India and Australia too would follow suit.
