The OIC should hang its head in shame that during the last 50 years of its existence it hasn’t done any worthwhile work for the Muslim world. Fed up with its lacklustre performance, the rulers of some Muslim countries headed by Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia and Iran did try a couple of months ago to form another forum of Muslim countries which should be active enough for not only resolving the internal disputes in Muslim countries but to evolve a joint mechanism for helping out one another in economic development. It is unfortunate that the said idea foundered on the rock of obduracy of Saudi Arabia and its like _minded countries.
Isn’t it pitiable that whenever any aggression is committed on any Muslim country by any non_ Muslim country the most which the OIC does is to hold protest meeting of foreign ministers of OIC countries in a seven _star hotel over a sumptuous lunch who then disperse after passing a resolution of condemnation and that is that.
The Muslim world is a house divided against itself. Ideological differences have rend it asunder. Some of them take a cue from the West while others look to either Beijing or Moscow for guidance. Washington obviously, patronises those Muslim countries who nurse a soft corner in their heart for Tel Aviv. A cursory glance over history books reveals that unfortunately the Muslim rulers in the past too had never cooperated with each other whenever they faced a threat from outside ;on the contrary some of them had sided with the non_musllm attackers on their brother Muslim country.
The OIC is a useless entity insofar the interests of Muslims are concernced Even if it was disbanded it won’t make any difference for the Muslim world.
