Pakistan have completely outclassed Bangladesh in the first Test in Pindi Cricket Stadium by an innings and 44 runs, taking a 1-0 lead in the two-Test series.
The 16-year-old Naseem Shah’s hat-trick, Leg-spinner Yasir Shah four wickets destroyed the Bangladesh batting line in the second innings as they were bowled out for 168.
Naseem became the youngest bowler in Test cricket to take a hat-trick and also fifth Pakistan to do so. He was awarded man of the match for his figures of 4-26. He couldn’t bowl on the last day as he was taken to hospital yesterday after feeling pain in his ribs.
On the other hand, it was Babar Azam and Shan Masood who made exhilarating centuries helping Pakistan post a big 445 in the first innings and securing a lead of 212 runs. Asad Shafiq and Haris Sohail half-centuries also played an important role to set a tone for Pakistan victory.
Babar (143) made his fifth -Test century and three in the last three Tests played. Shan (100) also smashed two consecutive centuries and third of his career.
Resuming at 126-6, The home side was just four wickets away before today’s play and the bowlers wrapped up the proceedings in the first session.
Shaheen Shah Afridi got the vital wicket of Bangladesh skipper Mominul Haque by trapping him in front in the first over of the day. Soon after, Veteran seamer Mohammad Abbas dismissed Rubel Hossain.
Yasir Shah confident review after a huge LBW appeal got the better of Liton Das and in the next over he finished the match by claiming Abu Jayed.
Yasir finished with a figures 4-58 after going wicketless in the first innings. Shaheen and Abbas claimed one wicket each. None of the visiting batsmen scored a half-century. Mominul was the top-scorer scoring 41.
In the first innings, bowlers shined as they dismissed the visitors on the score of 233 courtesy Shaheen four-wicket haul. Abbas and Haris claimed two whereas Naseem picked one. Mohammad Mithun was the star performer with the bat scoring 63.
