ISLAMABAD, December 12: The e-governance system of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has entered the final phase as the institution took steps to switch to the paperless working environment. In a revolutionary step for facilitating the pharmaceutical industry besides ensuring transparency, quality and a paperless working environment, the DRAP has started digitalisation of all of its departments through its e-governance system. Sources closer to the health ministry said that the e-governance system of DRAP will be formally inaugurated by Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan. The authority has digitalised the records of imports and exports besides accepting online applications for the licencing of medicines, said sources, adding that NOCs are also being issued to the citizens for importing medicines. – DNA

If a politician whether he is in power or in the opposition, is not straight with the people he loses his credibility very soon. Nero should not fiddle while Rome burns.Millions of people in this country are not sure where their next meal would come from. The leaders of the political parties are trend setters, they are supposed to set examples of austerity through their deeds. Are they not supposed to be frugal in the expenditure on the marriages of their sons, daughters ,grandsons and grand daughters? Isn’t it criminal to enjoy knees up when more than half of the country’s population can’t afford a square meal? A case in point is the recent high profile marriage ceremony in Lahore of the grandson of a business tycoon-cum politician which has been the talk of the town for the last couple of days There has never been love lost between the PPP and Nawaz League.Political expediences,no doubt, did bring them close in the past but in their heart of hearts the leaders of these two political parties never trusted each other.Lately, a slanging match has once again started between their leaders. The PTI leadership must be laughing up their sleeves over the deepening of this division in the PDM.One can see desperation writ large on the face of Maulana Fazlur Rehman. Buoyed up with the increase in the vote bank of the PPP in the recent bye election in Lahore, the PPP leadership has now started concentrating on the Punjab in the hope that they can make a dent in the vote bank of Nawaz League which has not been able to win as many votes which its candidate had won in the 2018 elections in this constituency.
