In 2022, information and communication technologies will be widely introduced in the provision of consular services to Uzbek and foreign citizens abroad. This is stated in the presidential decree “On the Development Strategy of New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026”, KunUz reported. It was noted that this year the following opportunities will be created in the diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan abroad:
– providing citizens of Uzbekistan wishing to stay abroad permanently to submit/receive documents online on the basis of direct integration of interdepartmental information systems;
– diplomatic and consular missions of citizens who have lost their documents will be able to identify them online and provide assistance in recovering documents;
– installation of info kiosks in diplomatic and consular posts, ensuring that citizens of Uzbekistan receive certain consular documents (references, answers to inquiries) through special devices without the participation of consular officers;
– improving the information security of computer systems of diplomatic missions and consulates of Uzbekistan abroad, providing the necessary equipment and high-speed Internet channel.
The service coverage of diplomatic missions and consular posts of Uzbekistan abroad will also be expanded:
– new consular posts of Uzbekistan abroad, in particular, Consulates General will be established;
– the number of staff of consulates general will be increased;
– some embassies will have one new consular staff.
