President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, accompanied by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, visited historical monuments in the Ichan-Kala complex. A remarkable feature of Ichan-Kala is that there are not only more than 120 architectural monuments here, but also the population living in this ancient part of the city. Therefore, the city is called an open-air museum.
Khiva was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List on 12 December 1990. In 1997, the city celebrated its 2500th anniversary. In 2020, it was declared the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World by an international organization.
The heads of state entered the complex through the main gate Ata-Darvaza and visited the Kalta-Minar, Kunya-Ark and Toshovli palaces. Surahs from the Quran and dua were recited in the mausoleum of Pakhlavan Mahmoud and the Friday Mosque.
The stories about the history of Khorezm, its contribution to the development of science, the rich culture and art of the region made an unforgettable impression on the guests.
Thereupon, the official visit of the President of Tajikistan to Uzbekistan has ended.

Leaders of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan visit Khiva Carpet Factory

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President Emomali Rahmon visited the Khiva Carpet Factory. The enterprise, worth almost US$22 million, was organized by Samarkand-based company Sam-Antep-Gilam in 2020. The second phase of the project was launched last year. The plant has equipment from Germany, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France and Turkey. 420 people are employed.
Carpets, polypropylene yarn and other products are produced here. They are exported to the United States, Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan. The third stage – the production of yarn from acrylic fibers has been launched this year. The production capacity has reached 2.2 million square meters per year. It is expected that 45 percent of the production will be shipped abroad, and annual exports will exceed US$7 million. The Presidents got acquainted with the production process and the showroom of the enterprise.
A presentation of industrial goods of Uzbekistan was held. Officials of related industries of the two countries were instructed to exchange experience and develop trade.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, accompanied by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, visited the UzXCMG joint venture in the city of Urgench.
The Uzbekistan – China company was organized in 2014. In the first stage of the project, SKD assembly was established here, in the second stage – industrial assembly of agricultural machinery, in the third stage, localization of production was launched.
About 13 types of excavators and 10 types of special equipment are produced here. Previously, such equipment, in demand in the water sector, road construction, was imported from abroad for foreign currency. There were many difficulties with the supply of spare parts and services.
The launch of the joint venture allowed not only to satisfy this need, but also to increase the economic potential of the region, to ensure the timely implementation of irrigation and melioration activities.
To date, the company has produced about 2 thousand units of special equipment based on international standards. The level of localization exceeded 50 percent. It is planned to export products to neighboring countries. Excavators and special equipment can also be manufactured by order. Tajik guests got acquainted with the working process of the plant, samples of agricultural and special equipment. – Uz Daily
