KARACHI, March 28: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Coordination Committee Senior Deputy Convener and MNA Dr Farooq Sattar has vowed to support the Council of Pakistan Newspapers Editors (CPNE) for their struggle for the right to information (RTI).
In this regard, the Senor Deputy Convener has on behalf of the MQM assured the CPNE of full and unconditional support for onward legislation in the Sindh Assembly (SA).
Dr Sattar offered this unconditional support to the CPNE at the CPNE office at Karachi, Monday.
The CPNE had invited Dr Sattar to attend a meeting with the CPNE to speak on the matter of RTI. A delegation of MQM Parliamentarians including Central Information Committee in-charge Amin Ul Haque, MNAs and MPAs headed by Dr Sattar had met the CPNE. The CPNE has prepared a draft Bill on the RTI and through dedicated and untiring efforts had approached all sections especially the leading political parties in SA, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the MQM. The CPNE had also met the Sindh Chief Minister on the same matter and since the MQM is the largest political party after PPP in Sindh and in SA, the CPNE also invited the MQM to lay their weight on the right demand for the RIT through legislation in the SA, which the MQM assured.-NNI
