PESHAWAR, March 28: To give last push to the efforts for polio eradication and to boost child immunity Emergency Operations Center Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the support of Department of Health KP has decided to start a week long Inactivated Polio Vaccination (IPV) campaign in 54 high risk union councils of Peshawar from April 4, next.
This was stated by Coordinator Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Akbar Khan here on Monday. Assistant Director EPI Dr Akram Shah, AD EPI Dr Rahim Khattak, Polio Team Leader UNICEF Dr Jaohar, Technical Focal Person BMGF Dr Imtiaz Ali Shah and WHO focal person for EOC were also in attendance.
Akbar Khan said that total target for upcoming IPV campaign is 0.154 million children and 493 teams comprising 1902 workers and volunteers have been constituted to vaccinate the target population.
He further explained that children within the age group of 4 to 23 would be vaccinated in the IPV campaign adding that training of the teams would be completed by March 31, next.-APP
