ISLAMABAD, July 19: Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial on Tuesday said the Supreme Court has to see whether the Election Commission can apply Article 62-1F.
His remarks came during the hearing of an appeal in Faisal Vawda disqualification case. A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial heard the appeal filed by Faisal Vawda.
The Supreme Court ordered the lawyers to prepare arguments for the scope of the implementation of Article 62-1F. The Chief Justice said that the invoking the Article 62-1F is a very serious issue. Vawda’s lawyer requested an early hearing on the appeal, which was rejected by the court.
The Supreme Court postponed the hearing of the case due to the non-availability of Nisar Khoro’s lawyer. However, the court has ordered all the parties’ lawyers to prepare arguments for the implementation of Article 62-1F of the Constitution.
The court adjourned the hearing on the appeal filed by Faisal Vawda against the decision of the Election Commission till September. -DNA
