President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov signed the Law on toughening penalties for violence against children, his press service said. The law was adopted by the Parliament on June 30, 2022. This Law was signed in the light of the implementation of the reform in the field of child protection and is aimed at ensuring the protection of the rights to sexual integrity, as well as the life and health of children from criminal encroachments.
In accordance with the Law, the terms of imprisonment and the amount of fines for committing crimes against the sexual integrity and spiritual and moral health of children are increased. In addition, persons who have committed the above crimes will not be released from criminal liability due to the expiration of the statute of limitations for criminal prosecution, mental illness or temporary mental disorder, as well as through the application of parole and amnesties. – Kabar
