Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) invited his grandchildren — Sedah Mirah and Panembahan Al Nahyan — to watch the cultural festival held to commemorate Indonesia’s 77th Independence Day anniversary at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday.
Based on a photo shared by the Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat here on Wednesday, the president was seen standing with his two grandchildren whilst watching the cultural carnival through a monitor screen.
The kirab budaya, or cultural festival, was performed by a group of mounted troops in traditional clothes parading the Sacred Red and White Heirloom Flag and the Text of the Proclamation Manuscript from the National Monument to the Presidential Palace in Jakarta.
After witnessing the procession, the president headed directly to the courtyard of the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta to act as the Inspector of Ceremonies for the Commemoration of the Seconds of Proclamation of the Indonesian Independence.
The ceremony of hoisting the Red and White Flag in the courtyard of the Merdeka Palace was solemn. All invited guests, not only those in the courtyard of the Merdeka Palace but also in the entire Presidential Palace complex, stood in attention when the Sacred Red and White Flag was hoisted.
Meanwhile, about two hundred rows of women in red kebaya were involved in the kirab budaya of the procession of handing over copies of the heritage Red and White Flag and the Text of Proclamation at the National Monument. The women wearing red kebayas stood on the right and left sides of the stair steps of the National Monument to escort the Flag and the Proclamation Text brought out by the Purna Paskibraka Duta Pancasila team from the storage room to the Merdeka Palace.
