BEIJING, August 18: The government of Pakistan has awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz to Pakistan’s ambassador to China, MoinulHaque on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the country’s independence.
Pakistan’s third highest civil award has been conferred with the prestigious honor of the ambassador’s meritorious contribution to the interests of Pakistan.
“I am humbled. I thank the Honorable President, the Government, and the Ministry for this Award. Indeed, a personal honor, but I dedicate it to my family, FSP, and my institution. Anything and Everything for Pakistan”, MoinulHaque twitted.
MoinulHaque joined the Foreign Service of Pakistan in 1987 and served for Pakistan in different positions including ambassador to France, Consul General, Consulate General of Pakistan Vancouver, Canada, and Director General (Europe), Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
As an ambassador to China, he took charge in 2020, where he handled the COVID-19 situation, and arranged successful visits of the top leadership of Pakistan. During his tenure, bilateral trade also increased significantly. In less than one year Pakistan’s export to China increased 69% in 2021 and crossed the historical figure of $3.58 billion in 2021 while the total imports and export between the two countries endured $27.82 billion is also a credit of his leadership.
It is worth mentioning that the President of Pakistan Dr. ArifAlvi conferred Pakistan Civil awards on 253 Pakistani citizens as well as Chinese citizens on the occasion of the 75th Diamond Jubilee Anniversary of the country.
