California (Monitoring report) – U.S. government cannot force Christian medical groups or individuals to perform abortions or do gender transition surgeries, a federal appeals court has ruled.
The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower court’s order shielding Christian Medical and Dental Associations and Specialty Physicians of Illinois, along with Catholic hospital system Franciscan Alliance Inc, from any enforcement action under the anti-discrimination provision, for refusing to perform the procedures, which they say would violate their religious freedom.
