Islamabad, March 03: The Kalabagh Aasian Polo team has won the 1st Habib Metropolitan Polo Tournament after a nail biting final with the tournament most favorite team Habib Metro Lions.
According to details, Kalabagh Aasian Polo has beaten Habib Metro Lions with one goal as Kalabagh Aasian scored seven goals and its opponent Habib Metro Lions scored six goals.
The final was played at Islamabad Club Polo ground on Sunday. The Chief Guest of the tournament Sara Talib has distributed prizes among the finalists.
The players participated from Habib Metro Lions including Hamza Moyaz, Syed Muhammad Onn Rizvi, Malik Ali Quli and Saqib Khakwani and from Kalabagh Asian polo tram players like Malik Sahlar, Hassam Hadir Ali, Hashim Asad and Arsalan Najeeb took part in the final match.
As soon match started broth the teams have targeted the goal posts of each other. In the first half of match Kalabagh Aasian took lead but in the 2nd half Habib Metro Lines players exhibited better show and equal the match.
However in the last minute of nail biting contest Kalabagh Aasian’s player scored a goal and took the match in its team favor. Hassam Hadir Ali of Kalabagh Asian has scored six goals and one goal scored by Arsalan Najeed. From the other side Saqib Khakwani has scored three goals, Hamza Moyaz scored two goals. Syed Muhammad Onn Rizvi the one of the youngest player also scored a goal from Habib Metro lions.
Later the Chief Guest of the tournament Sara Talib has distributed prizes among the finalists. Syed Muhammad Onn Rizvi has achieved the best player of the tournament award.
On the occasion chief guest the Group Head of Habib Metropolitan bank Syed Muhammad Talib Rizvi has told the top teams of Pakistan have participated in the tournament. He hoped that like cricket and hockey the great game of polo would also get popularity among masses in future.
Earlier in semifinal matches Habib Metro Lions defeated Pakistan Army and in seconding semifinal Kalabagh won match against its opponent. – Online
