SRINAGAR, January 7: In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Geelani has said that Kashmir is an issue concerning the future of 15 million people of Jammu and Kashmir, and it warrants urgent attention of the global community for settlement as per Kashmiris’ aspirations.
Syed Ali Geelani in a statement issued in Srinagar reiterated that the Kashmiris would not surrender their inalienable birth right under any pressure or compulsion. He pointed out that the Kashmiri brave hearts were struggling for the genuine cause of freedom, for which they had sacrificed tens of thousands of lives, so far.
Meanwhile, complete shutdown was observed in Pulwama town for the 8th consecutive day, today, against the recent killing of a youth, Manzoor Ahmad Dar, and authorities’ denial for construction of a monument for the victims of Indian state terrorism. All business establishments and shops remained closed while traffic was off the roads in the town.
The veteran leader, Syed Ali Geelani in a media interview supported the public demand for installation of the monument bearing names of martyrs and said that the administration was unnecessarily raising hurdles in the matter.
