Federal Information Minister Pervez Rasheed should be in a highly self-congratulatory mode and mood at having found an “open-and-shut” defense of his boss, Mian Nawaz Sharif. In his statement on ‘Panama Papers’ or Panama “Leaks”, (made in a hastily arranged press conference) the highly witty and innovative minister argued that Imran Khan’s mischief and propaganda offensive could not tarnish the clean and blotless image of the Prime Minister.
Instead of denying the revelations made in the Panama Leaks, he tried to link this issue with the ongoing ‘offensive’ of Imran Khan against Mian Nawaz Sharif.
“Mian Sahib will avenge appropriately by winning the 2018 elections too”, he said.
To many this line of argument may sound laughable, but from Pervez Rasheed’s own point of view it is a ‘stroke of genius.’
But suppose someone from the media had dared to ask Pervez Rasheed whether Imran Khan was secretly heading Panama’s government, or had special influence there to have engineered such vicious revelations, what would have been the all-knowing witty minister’s response?
Pervez Rasheed is never short of arguments.
Didn’t he say “Panama Leaks have exonerated Mian Sahib completely. He has been mentioned only as father of Hassan Hussain and Maryam.”?
Mian Sahib is lucky to have Pervez Rasheed Sahib as his adviser, defender, apologist and pleader. He has that rare ability to defend the indefensible which at its best can create men like Goebbels. Off course I have no intention here to compare PR’s cerebral attributes with the Chief Marketing Manager of Hitler’s ideas.
PR can be compared only with PR.
