I would not be surprised if I am told ones of these day that Messrs Pervez Rasheed, Danyal Aziz, Abid Sher Ali, and Rana Sanaullah etc had actually contacted Putin, Amitabh Bacchan, Aishwarya Roy, and other luminaries of “Panama Papers fame’, and advised them all to address the root cause of this menacing mess— a man called Imran Khan who had engineered the whole scandal.
But the problem is that those who have really engineered these leaks (the data of which has required nearly four decades to be completed) have not done it to target just Pakistan’s innocent prime minister and to tarnish just his clean image. They have far more important persons on their hit-list. Perhaps the truth might well be that noble creatures like Raiwind Sharif’s Sharifs are in the category of collateral damage.
Actually a long long list of thieves, thugs, tax-evaders, and owners of hidden billons had to be prepared as a matter of necessity so as to point accusing fingers in the direction of the likes of Putin, and to say sarcastilly “you too Mr President?”
I don’t remember any thief or thug in history who came forward voluntarily and said remorsefully: “Yes I did it !”.
You have to hunt them down. They have to be unearthed.
The leakers of Panama Papers have done this favour to most countries unintentionally.
And this is just one chapter of what may turn out to be a long tale of monumental plunder.
I don’t want to believe Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri’s revelation the other night, that as far back as 1994, Mian Nawaz Sharif owned 49% shares in a steel company of New Zealand.
“The Kiwi Prime Minister revealed this to me in a personal meeting when I was in that country to attend a function,” said Dr. Qadri talking to Dr. Shahid Masud who had a startled look of disbelief on hearing it.
To me it was a shock. “Is it possible?” I asked myself.
