Mirwaiz calls for shutdown in IOK tomorrow

SRINAGAR, April 10: In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Geelani while denouncing the killing of Kashmiris in Indian military operation at Varinag in Islamabad district and a trader in the Indian state of Punjab has said that the people of Kashmir are neither safe in Kashmir, nor in India.
Syed Ali Geelani in a statement in Srinagar, Sunday, said that India was at war with the Kashmiris. While demanding a probe by an impartial body into both the incidents, he said that Indian troops were directly involved in the killing of elderly man in Verinag.
Syed Ali Geelani criticized Indian authorities for not explaining the circumstances that led to the death of Kashmiri businessman in Jalandha, Punjab. The octogenarian leader said that breaking into someone’s house at midnight is itself a big crime and death caused by a heart attack is a murder.
Meanwhile, after Syed Ali Geelani and Muhammad Yasin Malik, senior Hurriyet leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has also called for a complete shutdown tomorrow, Tuesday against the growing incidents of harassment, bullying and victimization of Kashmiri students in India.
The Mirwaiz in a statement in Srinagar said it seems that extremist elements in India are hell-bent upon taking away the right of the Kashmiri students of their education and force them out of the institutions by physically assaulting them and harassing them. He said it was a serious concern for the entire people of Kashmir. It was the moral and legal responsibility of the Indian government to ensure the safety and security of the Kashmiri students, he added.-KMS
