ISLAMABAD, April 12: Federal government is making all-out efforts to help Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to cope with the menace of terrorism.
This was stated by Parliamentary Secretary for Finance Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan while responding to a calling attention notice in the National Assembly on Tuesday. He said over 150 billion rupees have been provided to the province to curb the menace.Rana Muhammad Afzal said the federal government will support every effort of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administration to strengthen law enforcement agencies and enhance its revenue.
He pointed out that the tax-free zone facilities to Malakand Division and Kohistan District were withdrawn at the request of the provincial government because only car dealers smuggling vehicles were exploiting these facilities.
However, the opposition members staged a token walkout from the House over the withdrawal of tax-free zone facilities in respect of Malakand Division. Sahibzada Tariq Ullah speaking on the occasion asked the government to take back notification about imposition of tax in Malakand Division. He said that if the government does not resolve the issue on priority basis the members of national and provincial assemblies will resign.-Online
