Pakistan_Tehreek-e-Insaf_logoLAHORE, April 14: Pakistan Awami Tehreek has announced nationwide protest demonstrations seeking the resignation of the prime minister for the involvement of his family in the Panama Leaks scandal. The name for these protests would be “Resign campaign.”
This was decided in a meeting held here on Thursday chaired by the secretary general of the party Khurram Nawaz Gandapur. He has instructed all the heads of the district committees of the party in this regard. He said this decision has been taken after creditable proof has come forth of the involvement of the Sharif family in opening and handling off-shore accounts and managing businesses abroad without paying any taxes and not showing where the income came from for opening and running these businesses. He said these activities of the Sharif family have bought a bad name to the country and needs to be ratified. He said as such the rulers have lost the trust of the nation and therefore must step down.
PAT Leaders Major (retd) Mohammed Saeed, Noor Ullah Sadique, Sajid Bhatti, Farraha Naz, Naeemuddin Ch, Mazhar Alvi, Mir asif Akber, Shehzad Rasool and Rana Tajjamal attended the meeting. It was further decided in the meeting to write to all the district and divisional heads of the party and instruct them to start an awareness campaign and inform the masses of the corruption of the rulers and their involvement in the Panama Leaks scandal. They has been told to get banners and poster ready with inscriptions of “Quit prime minister.” They have been told to hold protest rallies outside the press clubs of their respective cities. Gandapur said that now there is no need of a commission but time has come for action and this requires the resignation of the prime minister. He said these protest demonstrations will continue till the looted and plundered money is bought back to the country. He said on the instructions of their party leader Dr. Tahirul Qadri a sit-in was held in Islamabad and now we will take that to its logical conclusion and with it we will see to it that those responsible for the killing of PAT workers in the Model Town incident are sent to jail and gallows. -Online
