Sarfaraz The newly-elected Twenty20 captain Sarfraz Ahmed on Monday has rebuffed rumors regarding grouping and differences in the team.
While talking to local media in Karachi, the captain said that the rumors regarding grouping normally break out during mega events but they are not true and only aim to degrade the morale of the players.“No team member can politicize things and make groups”, he assured.
Responding to a question, Sarfraz Ahmed said that the news regarding missing practice sessions by senior players are baseless as all the cricketers are working with enthusiasm and passion.
He said that players are suffering due to lack of international cricket in Pakistan which is alarming and needs to get addressed at earliest.
He also termed the information regarding holding two opening Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in Lahore as good step for the return of international cricket in the country.
Meanwhile, the player also lauded former captain Imran Khan and said that he was the only real cricketer who devoted his all attention for Pakistan while Misbah-ul-Haq is strengthening Test cricket at his best.
Moreover, Sarfraz Ahmed pledged to perform better in upcoming England series.
Earlier, Wicket keeper Sarfraz Ahmed replaced veteran all-rounder Shahid Afridi as Pakistan’s Twenty20 captain after the latter resigned following a disastrous World T20 campaign in India recently.
Sarfraz began his international career in 2007 against India and he has been in and out of Pakistan‘s one-day side ever since.
In 2006, he was captain of the Pakistan team that won the Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
Sarfraz was part of the team at the World T20. The right-hander has played in 21 T20Is.
He has also played 58 one-day internationals and is averaging 29.91 with a strike rate of 86.16. He is averaging 46.28 in Test matches but has played just 21 of them.
