COAS for maintaining highest standards quality of defence and safety equipment

RAWALPINDI, January 14: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Thursday visited Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT), Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a press release.
The army chief was briefed on the products manufactured for defence and commercial purposes besides details of various facilities.
The briefing covered Tank Al-Khalid-1, manufacturing and rebuild of Armor Personal Carrier (APC), Security Vehicles Dragoon, Protector and Mohafiz.
The COAS also witnessed the production and demonstration of Tank Al-Khalid-1.
Speaking on the occasion, General Raheel Sharif greatly appreciated the efforts of HIT in manufacturing international standard defence and safety equipment and support to field formations including Operation Zarb-e-Azb.
He encouraged efforts of indigenization and commercialization of HIT products.
General Raheel also appreciated the use of Indigenous Security Vehicle “Mohafiz” and “Protector”.
He emphasized the need to maintain highest standards of quality while also ensuring saving of national exchequer through self reliance.
On this occasion, secretary of defence production was also present. On this occasion, Secretary Ministry of Defence Production was also present. Earlier on arrival at HIT, COAS was received by Lieutenant General Syed Wajid Hussain, Chairman Heavy Industries Taxila. -NNI
