- Says terrorism decreased but haven’t won the war yet
LONDON, April 20: PTI chief Imran Khan has said Panama Leaks is beginning of destruction of Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif politics and his politics will meet a disastrous doom.
” Panama leaks is beginning of devastation of Nawaz Sharif politics. PM is in hot waters now. To my views it has become hard for him to run Pakistan now”, he said in his interview with a British journal.
” I am happy over Panama papers revelations. How shameful it is that rulers from under developed countries stash hard earned money of people in off shore accounts and on the other hand basic amenities are not available to the people therein”, he held.
He went on to say that motive behind formation of off shore companies is to provide protection to thieves. Tax is not evaded in Pakistan but the rulers commit robbery on the pockets of people. The alliance of corrupt ruling elite is aimed at protecting each other despite
the fact that they have joined political parties opposed to each other.
Responding to a question he said ” you are talking about 30000 Euros and I am talking about million of Euros. If we look at this issue in perspective of prevailing situation in Pakistan then we are drowning. 50 percent population of our country has nothing to eat. The ruling elite is not only plundering money but also siphoning off the looted money to off shore accounts and evading tax.
About Gold Smith election campaign for the slot of mayor of London he said he is far away from politics of London and election for mayor ship therein. Nor I have met Zac Goldsmith during my recent visit to London nor have I any estimation about election campaign.
Regarding Gold Smith Islam phobia Imran said he does not think he will give provocative statements to gain political power. ” i know Zac since the last 20 years and he is justice loving man.
Meanwhile, Imran Khan stated that he is saddened over the death of seven police officers who died in Karachi as a result of firing from unidentified personnel, adding that Punjab Police and Sindh Police are in a state in which they cannot offer protection and have to deploy the army to handle a certain situation, sources reported.
He said that in a report made by Inspector General Abbas Khan in 1992, it was mentioned that various culprits have been hired in the police. He stated that as long as the police is not depoliticised, crime rate cannot be curbed. Khan said that if terrorism has decreased in the country within the period of a year it should not mean that the war (against terrorism) has been won. He demanded that action needs to be taken against all groups.
“We all have to unite against terrorism and it should not be considered that it (terrorism) is over”, he said. He added that Khyber Paktunkhwa is surrounded by tribal areas from three sides and inquired that “what might happen when the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) will return to their areas?”. He stressed that this issue is a serious one and it needs to be dealt accordingly.
He also said that corruption is an issue that caters all Pakistanis and every citizen wants an end to it. He stated that money is being sent out of the country through investments in foreign companies and the building of huge properties. -Online/Agencies
