Global powers have many levers they can pull to influence events in Pakistan and certain foreign mission officials are one of those knotted levers. These sniping pedals are jerked to prepare ground for a series of interventions in Pakistan in support of either separatists, terrorists or creation of enabling environment benefiting Pakistan’s arch enemy India at regional and international arena. Most recently the US has inked a strategic agreement with India enabling Armed forces including strategic forces of both the countries to use each others’ military amenities. Apart from this gigantic step, the US lead west is also in forefront to support India for making the most of serving and retired diplomatic officials of a number of allied countries. Such machinate is meant to trigger an effective media campaign outside and inside Pakistan to demonize the security structure on TV screens as well as domestic and international print media which uses some pompous intellectuals and a few anchors who have either sold out their ethical commitment or hold a great level of biased paranoia against Pakistan to fuel the fire. As a result India is also content with such individuals who voluntarily tender stirring opinions against Pakistan essentially to undermine and damage economy, security, achievements in countering terrorism and an emerging optimistic image in the anticipation of conditions that once resulted in the break up of the Soviet Union and of Yugoslavia. Former Ambassador Gunter Mulack, a German scholar who joined German Orient Institute, Berlin after retirement in year 2008, has made a feebly unacceptable claim about Pakistan’s arrest of a serving Indian naval officer working actively for RAW. Germany’s former diplomat Dr Mulack who also served in Pakistan from 2005 to 2008, while speaking at the Pakistan Institute of International Affairs failed to hide his long harboured bête-noir towards Pakistan and predilection for India when he discovered that the Indian terrorist arrested in Balochistan was actually caught by Taliban and bartered with Pakistan’s secret service. RAW agent Kulbhushan Yadav’s video confession about his mission to sabotage CPEC further antagonized Dr Gunter who, although was speaking on the topic of “Crisis in the Middle East: A German Perspective”, could not restrain himself from saying that ‘Chinese will not bring Pakistanis paradise on earth through CPEC”. Deplorably the veteran German diplomat’s insubstantial views, which he must be holding since his ambassadorial stint in Pakistan, were based on prejudiced media reports of some UK and Indian newspapers essentially lacking credibility and authenticity as Indian terrorist himself had firstly confessed about his association with RAW. Secondly during his video confession screened on TV, Indian agent claimed that his country was sponsoring and orchestrating terrorism and separatist movements in Balochistan to sabotage CPEC, firmly corroborating what Pakistan had earlier mentioned in the Dossiers presented to the UN Secretary General and the US Government. Likewise, Indian External Affairs Ministry has officially acknowledged the bona-fide status of Kulbhushan Yadav as an Indian citizen working in Iran. Similarly an Indian senior Naval officer was bold enough to accept the fact about Indian Navy loaning this particular Naval officer to RAW during 2013.There is also a great contrast in the opinions and views within foreigners served in Pakistan. One fine example is of Mr. Peter Upton, the outgoing Director British Council, Pakistan, who while addressing at Govt College University Lahore the other day said that Pakistan is not as it is perceived in different countries, especially in the west. He said that those foreigners, like me, who have worked and lived in Pakistan for a significant period know that there is an entirely very different story about Pakistan than what we hear abroad from few persons.
Mr. Gunter appears to be either influenced or having active membership of the far right anti-immigration entity namely ‘Alternative for Germany’ (AfD), which was found during 2013. This group claims that Islam is not compatible with the German Constitution and Muslim countries including Pakistan follow radical Islam. Alexander Gauland, who leads the AfD in Brandenburg, an important district of Germany, goes a step further by accusing Islam which he believes is not a religion like Catholic or Protestant Christianity but a faith that is intellectually always associated with the take-over of the states. This is the language used by Germany’s far right people including Mr. Gunter Mulack who apparently are proud to follow a Social Democratic system of governance. Such a language was only used by Hitler’s Nazis in the past or uttering currently by the scores of people who can be seen cheering virulent attacks on Muslims by the US presidential candidate , Donald J. Trump, the business tycoon turned politician.
