SRINAGAR, April 21: In occupied Kashmir, All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) Chairman, Syed Ali Geelani, terming the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s remarks on Kashmir as meaningless has said that Kashmir is an internationally-recognized dispute and a separate entity where people have been enslaved at gunpoint.
Syed Ali Geelani in a statement issued in Srinagar said the slogan of the Indian prime minister, insaaniyat (humanity), jumhooriyat (democracy) and Kashmiriyat (composite Kashmir culture) is just a lip service as Kashmiris are being brutally killed, women sexually assaulted, properties looted and torched and thousands of youth have been subjected to enforced disappearance.
“The voice and rights of the people of Kashmir cannot be muzzled and people would strive to fight for their rights till success,” he added.
Referring to the slogan of Kashmiriyat, he said, “Although we have wonderful and unique religious, cultural and social traditions but calling Kashmir a mini-India is part of larger strategy to eliminate our unique identity.”
