Contingents of Para-military force and Police on alert during curfew in Srinagar in the Indian Occupied Kashmir.

SRINAGAR, April 27: In occupied Kashmir, the Hurriyet forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has said that Kashmir dispute is the core issue between Pakistan and India and permanent peace and stability in the South Asian region is impossible without settling it on priority basis. The Hurriyet forum at a meeting of its Executive Council, General Council and Working Committee in Srinagar on Wednesday, and presided over by Professor Abdul Ghani Butt, reviewed the prevailing human rights situation and the organisational matters. The meeting termed talks between the foreign Secretaries of Pakistan and India in New Delhi as an important step towards ending an impasse between the two countries. It called for inclusion of the Kashmiris in the dialogue process to bring about a just and durable settlement of the Kashmir dispute. In occupied Kashmir, the puppet authorities imposed curfew and other restrictions in Srinagar, Wednesday to prevent people from offering funeral prayers in absentia of renowned Kashmiri liberation leader, Amanullah Khan, who passed away in Rawalpindi, yesterday.
Police arrested the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik, during a raid on his residence at Maisuma in Srinagar. The authorities placed the chairman of his own Hurriyet forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, under house arrest and detained Hurriyet leader Javaid Ahmed Mir in jail. Top Hurriyet leaders Syed Ali Gilani and Shabbir Ahmad Shah are already under illegal detention of Indian police.-KMS
