Jahangir Tareen ISLAMABAD, April 28: To counter allegations of loan write-offs and purchase of companies, senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jahangir Tareen, on Thursday unveiled his tax payment record.
Presenting a bunch of documents before media persons, Tareen responded to all allegations regarding his tax dodging.
He challenged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to come up with a similar exercise.
Mr Prime Minister! You can have a look at my tax record I urge you to reveal your tax record within a week; otherwise, the nation will consider you a culprit, he challenged. A day after government claimed that Traeen had got his loan written-off, he denied the claim and accused media cell of the Prime Minister House of running false stories about him. The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) also confirmed that Tareen had never written-off his loans. Nawaz Sharif is under tremendous pressure from opposition to step down since his family members were named in the mass leak of offshore account data from the Panama firm Mossack Fonseca. To probe the Panama Papers, the PM has announced formation of judicial commission under Chief Justice of Pakistan, but the opposition is not satisfied with terms of references (TORs) for the commission.
