PESHAWAR, April 29: Ambassador of Switzerland to Pakistan Marc P. George called on Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak here at Chief Minister’s Secretariat. Chief Secretary Amjad Ali Khan and ACS Mohammad Azam Khan were also present on the occasion.
Matters of bilateral interest and possibilities of future cooperation between government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the government of Switzerland were discussed on the occasion.
The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa informed the Swiss Ambassador about the strategy of the provincial government for the development of tourism, hydel power generation and environment sectors. Pervez Khattak told the diplomat that green Khyber Pakhtunkhwa initiative programme had been launched in the province while one billion tree project was also being implemented, which he termed the biggest ever environmental initiative in the country.
The Chief Minister said that sites were indentified and feasibility studies were completed for utilisation of the canal water for small scale production of hydel power generation at cheap rate. Possibility of cooperation of the Swiss government in the development of mechanism for the scattered terraced agriculture in mountainous areas, small hydel power generation and tourism deliberated over on the occasion.
The Swiss ambassador suggested the need of a pragmatic and practical strategy for future cooperation between the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the government of Switzerland.-PR
