BANNU, May 3: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday announced uplift projects worth millions of rupees for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK). Addressing a large public meeting, the PM responded to his critics and pledged to make a ‘new Pakistan’ and a ‘new KPK’.
Nawaz Sharif said that he wanted to see ‘new Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’ as claimed by the provincial government but was disappointed upon his one-day visit. He also criticised provincial government led by Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, claiming that it has failed to deliver.
The Prime Minister censured Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) while delivering a speech at a local gathering in Bannu district. The Prime Minister announced a development package worth Rs 200 million for different areas of the province including Bannu.
He also announced construction of an international airport in Bannu and a university in Lakki Marwat. Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Fazlur Rehman, ex-governor Sardar Mehtab, Governor Iqbal Zaffar Jhagra, Special Assistant to PM, Asif Kirmani and provincial president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Pir Sabir Shah accompanied the Prime Minister during his visit. He said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would create a ‘new Bannu’ beating PTI’s hollow claims behind. The ruling party created numerous roads and highways during its multiple tenures as government in the past. People of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) fell prey to reverie sketches drawn by PTI in their minds during General Elections 2013, he said adding that no other province gave in.
PM Nawaz laid foundation stone of a gas project that will ensure supply to five union councils (UCs). The project will complete in a year costing around Rs 259 million, according to the government.
Ruling party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa failed to create ‘new province’ in the last three years, he added. The Prime Minister reiterated that he would resign if corruption worth a penny is proven against him. PM Nawaz vowed to ensure better supply of gas and electricity in the area. Nawaz Sharif claimed once again that the federal government would be able to curb energy crisis and end power outages until 2018.
PM Nawaz said that the ruling party does not focus on infrastructure and roads but other sectors as well. The Prime Minister inaugurated four major highways earlier today in the province.- DNA
