Pakistan has been told by the U.S government in no uncertain terms that if it is interested in buying the promised F 16s it will have to pay the entire amount of $ 700 million from its own resources, and not rely on the $ 430 million earlier promised to be provided by America. As per the original understanding Pakistan was to pay only $ 270 million from its own resources.
Pakistan’s high-level team is in the U.S to negotiate with Americans and to try to convince them that Pakistan is in no position to pay for the fighter planes from its resources.
This development is regarded as a huge triumph of Modi’s lobbying in Washington, and totally listless handling of the issue on the part of Pakistan government.
