ISLAMABAD, May 4: The Executive Board Meeting (EBM) of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was held under the Chairmanship of Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, Chairman NAB at NAB Headquarters. The following decisions were made during the Executive Board Meeting (EBM).
The EBM decided to authorize investigation against Tariq Iqbal Khan, Ex-Chairman and MD, National Investment Trust (NIT), Asif Jameel, Ex-Director, NIT and others. In this case, the accused persons were alleged for illegal sale of Pakistan Engineering Company (PECO) shares by the management of NIT without obtaining necessary approval of the Government.
The EBM authorized inquiry against Dr. Muhammad Qaiser, Vice Chancellor, University, Karachi. In this case, the accused persons were alleged for misappropriation of public funds through illegal payments, illegal appointments and illegal use of provident funds. Thus caused a loss of Rs. 566 million to the national exchequer.
The Executive Board decided to re-authorize two inquiries. At the end, Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, Chairman NAB reiterated that NAB is committed to eradicate corruption through holistic approach of Awareness, Prevention and Enforcement and by adopting Zero tolerance policy against corruption throughout the country. He directed all officers/officials of NAB to put in their best efforts in conduct of complaint verifications, inquiries and investigations against corrupt in accordance with laid down laws/SOPs of NAB.-PR
