ISLAMABAD, May 11: A special court in Islamabad on Wednesday declared former president Pervez Musharraf a proclaimed offender in high treason case.
The court also ordered for issuing personal ads in news papers, declaring him a proclaimed offender.
When a special court headed by Justice Mian Mazhar Alam took up high treason case against Musharraf, Rashid Qureshi, guarantor of Musharraf and joint secretary interior Mubarak Khan appeared in the court.
Qureshi also deposited a sum of Rs2.5 million against surety bonds.
The FIA director-general also submitted a compliance report of arrest warrants for the former president. According to the FIA report, raids were conducted at residences of the former president in Islamabad and Karachi but he was not found present.
The court while declaring Musharraf proclaimed offender in the light of the FIA report ordered to issue ads in the press declaring him a proclaimed offender and the copies of the ads should also be pasted outside his residences.
The court while giving Musharraf 30 days time to appear before also sought all the details of his property. If the former president does not appear in the court, the process of confiscation of his property will be ordered. -Online
