SRINAGAR, June 5: In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Syed Ali Geelani has condemned the large-scale detention of Hurriyet leaders including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik and Altaf Ahmad Shah by Indian police and has termed it as the frustration of the authorities.
Syed Ali Geelani was addressing a programme held at his Hyderpora residence in Srinagar, Sunday, regarding the advent of holy month of Ramadan. He maintained that the puppet authorities had totally surrendered to their masters in New Delhi for execution of the communal agenda of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
Syed Ali Geelani, Shabbir Ahmad Shah and Dukhtaran-e-Millat Chairperson, Aasiya Andrabi, in their separate statements in Srinagar urged people to refrain from voting for so-called by-elections in Islamabad district to convey a message that they reject anti-Kashmiri policies of the puppet regime. Meanwhile, the authorities continued to place Hurriyet leaders including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, Ayaz Akbar, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza and Hilal Ahmad War under house arrest or behind the bars. Hurriyet leader Altaf Ahmed Shah, who remained under house arrest for the past many days, now has been shifted to a local police station.
The Jammu and Kashmir Coalition for Civil Society in a statement in Srinagar revealed that the construction work on Indian soldier colonies was going on at a fast track on the outskirts of Srinagar. It said that over 800 skilled and unskilled construction workers were hired by various construction companies for this purpose.-KMS
