A high-level meeting comprising top civil and military leadership held at General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi discussed issues pertaining to national security on Tuesday, and vowed not to allow hostile intelligence agencies and their facilitators to destabilize Pakistan. Issues relating to the country’s internal and external security, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, were also discussed. Participants expressed concern over the May 21 US drone strike targeting former Afghan Taliban chief Mullah Mansour in Balochistan. Indeed, it was a clear violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty, which affected mutual trust and undermined the spirit of the Afghan peace process under the mutually agreed framework decided by the Quadrilateral Coordination Group. The meeting took cognizance of ongoing regional developments and inimical designs against the country’s stability and prosperity. The leadership resolved to protect the country’s core national interests and effectively counter negative external influence.
ISI has indeed countered the machinations of alien agencies and their propaganda. It regularly briefed the elected government and the Parliament about its threat perceptions to internal and external security of Pakistan. However, propaganda blitz from the hostile as well some so-called friendly countries continues; and some analysts and commentriat advance interest of their masters. They point out fingers of accusation towards Pakistan as to how Mullah Mansour was given Pakistani passport when he was Afghan national. But they do not ask questions or comment on what Mullah Mansour was doing in Iran? In section of media, it has been reported that Mullah Mansour was in Iran for two months, and had meetings with Iran’s officials. It was also reported that he gave assurances that Taliban would never create problems for Iran.
Pakistani writers living abroad also work for the alien agencies. Last month, ‘website dailykashmirimages.com’ carried a fictional story under the title “The ISI is always right; even when it is wrong”. The sub-title was ‘The story of Arif Shahid’, who apparently stood for independent Kashmir. The author pointedly blamed Pakistan for supporting militants despite the fact Pakistan gave all the support to the people of Kashmir. Of course, Kashmir issue is the unfinished agenda of the partition, and there are UNSC resolutions giving the people of Kashmir right to join Pakistan or India in a plebiscite under the aegis of the UN. Anyhow, the author created a character of Brigadier from the ISI with the pseudo name of Brigadier Rathore. After narrating his fascination for the Khaki uniform, the details of his joining the Pakistan army, his promotion from lower ranks to brigadier and then his transfer to the ISI were given.
The author tried to convey an impression that he had interviewed so-called brigadier or the fictional character, and in his words wrote: “Whether this Kashmir or that Kashmir, not even a leaf could fall from the trees without my permission. I was the administrator of the blood in our jugular vein. I was the manager of our life-line. During one of his speeches, Arif Sahid stated: “If Jihad is so pious and mandatory, why are the children of Generals, Brigadiers and Colonels studying in UK and USA? Why aren’t they joining the Jihad in Srinagar? During one of his rallies, he stated: “My land is being occupied by Pakistan and this agency and their Generals are asking me to free the Valley. What nonsense! I should first free myself from the clutches of this occupier”. Such statements were downright outrageous.
Junaid Qureshi went on to write: “He (Arif Shahid) blamed the ISI for communalizing the Kashmir-issue and transforming it into a religious issue. He kept screaming for a secular, united and independent Jammu & Kashmir. He blamed Pakistan for backing theo-fascist groups and nourishing terrorist outfits. He had created an All Parties National Alliance (APNA) of more than a dozen political parties from these two areas. The author seems to be adept in the art of fictional writing, and reproduced the dialogues between the brigadier and the DG ISI, as if the former had given an interview to Junaid Qureshi. He tried to denigrate the military and the ISI, and concluded his story stating “The ISI is always right; even when it is wrong.” Dr. Shabbir Chaudhry from England, and Pervez Hoodbhoy also wrote articles appreciating the article written by Junaid Qureshi.
All over the world, the intelligence agencies work for making their country secure; however, the case of NDS is strange. This foreign funded and R&AW-backed agency is focused on inflicting harm to Pakistan instead of securing its own country. Indians have enhanced their influence on the Afghan government and turned them against Pakistan through negative propaganda. With latest capture of six NDS-supported terrorists in Balochistan, the number of NDS supported terrorists arrested and killed by Pakistani Intelligence agencies has crossed over 126. The agents were arrested from Peshawar, Swat, Gilgit Baltistan, South Waziristan, Attock, Turnol, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Chaman, Quetta and other bordering areas at Pak-Afghan border. NDS is also supporting TTP leadership, hiding in Nuristan and Kunar provinces of Afghanistan. Reportedly Mullah Fazlullah led TTP is being prepared to carry out a fresh wave of terror activities inside Pakistan.
