ISLAMABAD, 08 JUNE (DNA) – National Assembly session on Wednesday witnessed a pandemonium when Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Asif used harsh and unparliamentary words for senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Shireen Mazari.
According to our correspondent, Khawaja Asif called Mazari a ‘tractor trolley’ while speaking in the house over loadshedding issue. Reports said as the minister started elaborating on government’s loadshedding exemption for sehri and iftar timings, the PTI female MNA intercepted his speech.
It irked Khawaja Asif who said “Mr. Speaker! Tell the tractor trolley to be quiet.” Opposition reacted to these harsh words as Shireen Mazari and other lawmakers from opposition parties raised slogans against government, creating hullabaloo in the house.
Shireen Mazari also protested over Khawaja Asif’s remarks, as members from treasury and opposition benches exchanged hot words. To calm down the situation, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq expunged the words from the assembly proceeding on request of Pakistan Peoples Party’s senior leader Naveed Qamar. Later, PTI lawmakers walked out from the assembly. Meanwhile, speaking to Samaa, PTI vice president Shah Mehmood Qureshi condemned the minister’s harsh attitude. “He always creates tension in the house. He must take his words back,” Qureshi said, claiming that Asif is under pressure after court’s decision about his constituency NA-110. -DNA
