Pakistan trying to ease tension between Saudi Arabia & Iran: Air Chief

MANAMA, January 21: Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman says Pakistan is trying its best to defuse growing tension between Saudi Arabia and Iran. He was addressing a select gathering at the Manama Airpower Symposium held in Bahrain Thursday. The Air Chief, who was among the few privileged speakers to address the select audience gathered from around the globe, presented his vision on an important topic “PAF’s Leading Role in On-going Operations- Successes and Future Challenges.
The Chiefs of over 20 Air Forces and a large number of officials from aviation industries attended the symposium. Air Chief Sohail Aman said PAF had inflicted heavy losses on the terrorists by destroying their command and control centers besides ammunition depots.
“Large scale efforts have been made for infrastructure development and provision of basic amenities to the local population. PAF and Pakistan Army have joined hands for providing quality education to the youth of these areas, which would help in transforming these young minds into better citizens of the country,” he said. He further said that the anti-terrorist operations in Pakistan which started in 2014 were fully backed by political leadership and owned by the entire nation. “PAF, with its wherewithal, has the capacity to operate with total precision, day and night in all weather conditions and its air strikes have caused major blow to terrorists in terms of foreign elements killed and infrastructure destroyed,” he said. Air Chief Sohail Aman reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to fight against the evil of terrorism and showed PAF’s determination to win the war. Commenting on ties between Saudi Arabia and Iran, the Air Chief said that Pakistan was playing a proactive role of mediator to defuse tension between the two countries. He further said that the resolution of the current crisis through peaceful means would not only help defuse tension between the two countries but also help promote harmony among Ummah. The Air Chief also met with Air Chiefs of other Air Forces and leading dignitaries attending the conference and exchanged views pertaining to the subject. -NNI
