Pervez Rasheed’s famously notorious image of “kneel-down diplomacy’ has blown up the PML (N)’s blitz-like claims and propaganda that not only is Mian Nawaz Sharif in full control of Islamabad, but also is well-set to thwart all ‘conspiracies’ to derail Pakistan’s progress. By Pakistan’s progress, the loyalists of the long-reigning Sharif family always mean ‘the rise and rise’ of the fortunes of the dwellers of the palaces built in Raiwind and bought in London.

If Pervez Rasheed had known that the naughty cameras of the modern media would catch him in the ‘naughtiest’ of moments, he would probably have found some more ‘guarded’ method of seeking the PPP’s crucially important support in PML (N)’s frantic efforts to push back the tidal wave let loose by Allah (in President Mamnoon Hussain’s words).

Pervez Rasheed’s explanation for his ‘bending down to hold Syed Khurshid Shah’s knees’ has all the ingredients of hilarious comedy.

“I, am from my childhood, have been taught to kneel before senior and respectable superiors,” Pervez Rasheed has said: “I wonder why people are finding anything wrong in this habit of mine.”

Pervez Rasheed is known for some other less ‘venerable habits too’. But this is not an occasion to show him the mirror. Right now he needs sympathy and prayers.
