LAHORE, June 15: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahir-ul Qadri has said that the Model Town tragedy was the worst example of state terrorism and justice has not been done to the victims despite a lapse of two years.
While talking to media persons after he arrived here at the Allam Iqbal Airport on Wednesday, he said that it was a tyranny that 14 persons were killed in broad day light. “It was state terrorism and Punjab
and federal governments were behind the massacre”. He said that no justice was done to the victims and their families despite registration of an FIR.
A large number of PAT workers received Qadri while a bullet proof vehicle was stationed at the airport to bring him to PAT office at Model Town Residence. Stringent security arrangement had been put in place in and outside the airport.
Qadri said that when they protested only then a one-sided JIT was formed but in vain. “FIRs were lodged against our witnesses to terrorise them while the chief minister formed a commission of his own choice to probe into the tragedy,” he alleged.
He claimed that Shahbaz Sharif had announced that he would step down if the inquiry commission held him responsible. “The inquiry commission declared him culprit but he did not resign,” Qadri claimed. -Online
