ISLAMABAD, June 26: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan said Sunday that he has never sought any support from military.
“I never needed any shoulders to rest upon or any canes to take support from a General for political uplift,” Khan said in an interview with a private TV.
“I treaded alone 20 years, I can go on alone for another 20 years,” the PTI chief said.
“That is why I have no fear in ambling down the road alone. Yet I believe everyone must come out against corruption.”
To a question about the possible cooperation with the PPP against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, he said the PPP is welcome to join PTI’s against corruption but make note, every single person including him will be held accountable.
“PPP leaders should tell Bilawal that PPP politics will get buried if they choose to bail out Nawaz Sharif this time.”
“The issue is beyond optics now. People like Aitzaz Ahsan, Qamar Zaman have perhaps enlightened Bilawal,” he said.
He said the JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman signed his own political death warrant by supporting Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
“I’ve maintained that PM must be accountable first. I might as well be put on trial too. And then hold everyone else accountable,” Khan went on to say.
He said instead of holding the PM accountable, whole State machinery is being used to save Sharifs’ corruption.
He alleged that the Chairman NAB has been brought for the purpose of saving the gov’t corruption.
On the foreign policy, he said the vacuum created in Foreign policy area has to be “filled by the Army chief Gen Raheel who is compelled to sort out diplomatic relations.”
“We should develop good relations with our neighbors especially Afghanistan and Iran. Nawaz should have appointed a competent Foreign minister instead of taking his son to meet Indian business tycoon,” he said.
Khan said Nawaz Sharif has held Foreign office in his own hands. Irony is that he doesn’t even know the ‘meaning’ of Foreign policy.
“Look at Narendra Modi’s reception in countries whom we regard as our ‘friends’, the US, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia. Look at our neighbor even. Indian market is independent. Their foreign policy is independent. Just see Modi’s reception,” the PTI Chief further said, adding foreign Policy is dependent upon your domestic situation.
Defending fudig to Darul Uloom Haqqania, he said the funding was also offered money for reforms in Musharraf’s era.
“Our policy was to bridge the gap between 8 lac English medium school kids and 23 lac seminary kids,” he said.
“I am not running KP govt at micro level but I can explain party policy,” he clarified. -NNI
