Agha Nasir has also joined the great majority. He was a broadcaster par excellence. Not only did he speak grammatically correct Urdu, his pronunciation was faultless. Besides, he was a very good writer. Agha Nasir belonged to that generation of broadcasters who had had the good fortune of sitting at the feet of prominent broadcasters like Z. A. Bokhari. Alas most of them are gone now like sand slipping out of one’s hands., Where should one look now for persons like Mohammad Ali, Agha Talish, Ibrahim Nafees, Aslam Azhar, Mohni Hameed, Sheikh Shareef, Khalil Khan and Abdul Wadood Manzar, to mention a few, all of them great broadcasters in their own right. May, God the Almighty, give long life and good health to broadcasters like Zia Moyahudin and Tariq Aziz, now in the autumn of their lives. .
Time was when broadcasters like Agha Nasir used radio and TV not only as channel for public entertainment but also as a medium of public education. Listeners used to improve their pronunciation of urdu and english by listening to their broadcast whether they were news bulletins or radio dramas——a far cry from now when very little or no attention is being given to these details by those who happen to be the bosses in radio and TV stations. Radio is certainly poorer with the demise of Aslam Azhar and now of Agha Nasir. May their souls rest in peace. Ameen.

He must be the happiest footballer on the earth today after leading his country Portugal to lift the European football cup tournament a couple of days ago thus fulfilling his long cherished dream. By dint of his hard work and passion for this game he can be placed today in the class of Pele, Maraddona and Messi.
