Ishratul EbadKARACHI, July 15: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan was admitted on Friday to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), Karachi following discomfort in his chest.
Ebad was brought to the emergency ward after reportedly suffering dehydration at first. The doctors conducted an angiography on the governor and concluded that he was stable. The team of experts comprised Director NICVD Professor Dr Nadeem Qamar, Catheterisation Lab In-charge Dr Tahir Sagheer and administrator NICVD Dr Hameedullah Malik. The specialists, however, recommended Ebad’s stay in the hospital for at least until 10am Saturday for observation. The Sindh governor was subsequently shifted to a private ward at coronary care unit (CCU) and was advised to take rest. Meanwhile, Rangers DG Major General Bilal Akbar visited the NICVD to inquire after the governor’s health and prayed for his well-being. On April 22, Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain said he was ending relations with the governor Ebad, saying he had become a representative of the ‘establishment’ and not the party. The MQM chief had said that under Ebad’s tenure, there was not only a raid at his house but party members were arrested and killed and the governor did not take any notice for further investigation into the matter. Ebad was appointed 30th governor of Sindh on December 27, 2002 and attained the distinction of becoming the province’s longest serving governor on July 16, 2008.-Agencies
