- Says peace in the country was the outcome of countless sacrifices of the people and Pakistan Army

CHITRAL, July 31: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif says journey to achieve sustainable peace in the country will continue with full determination. He said it should be remembered that whether it is time of happiness or sadness Pakistan Army will not hesitate to offer any sacrifice for defence of country and welfare of people. He said noose has been tightened against the terrorists and their facilitators.
Addressing the participants of Shandur Polo Festival in Chitral on Sunday, he said the success of this journey depends on the support of the nation in which young generation have particularly a key role. Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif said peace in the country was the outcome of countless sacrifices of the people and Pakistan Army.
Army Chief said there is no place for terrorists and days are not far off when education, development and peace will become an identity of our country in the world.
He said the prevailing peaceful environment is the fruit of sacrifices offered by armed forces and the people. He said operation Zarb-e-Azb is continuation of the same spirit.
General Raheel Sharif said the festival is a message for terrorist elements that we will continue our traditions without any fear.
“I assure you that noose is tightening around terrorists and their facilitators,” he said, adding that the mission against terrorists will continue nationwide to sustain peace.
The COAS added that the Shandur festival is a positive step towards promotion of tourism in the country, and that organisers of the event deserve praise for their initiative.
General Raheel Sharif said that Pakistan Army officials and nation have sacrificed a lot for the peace in the country.
Army Chief said that the carnival will not only promote national and international tourism but it will also convey message to the terrorists that Pakistanis will continue celebrating their cultural events.
He hoped that one day Pakistan will be the mark of prosperity and peace in the world and nation is completely backing army.
General Raheel Sharif also hailed the expertise and sportsmanship of polo players in the traditional game.
“I’m myself a good player of polo, but the way you play is amazing, your expertise and skills in this game are unprecedented,” he said.
The festival features polo matches, paragliding, jumping, horse dances, tug of war and local cultural music and folk dances.-SABAH
