If all goes well 2018 is going to be the election year , meaning thereby that only five months of the current year and 2017 is left in between the next election. In other words one and a half year is left for the next polls. Both the ruling party as well as the opposition parties are desperately trying to do their best during this period in order to improve their public ratings. Would it be possible for the PPP to improve its image in Sind, particularly , and in the country in general, during this short period for regaining the lost confidence of the man in the street ?This is the question which should worry the PPP leadership. Zardari, it seems, has washed his hands of the PPP and he is spending all his energies on finding out ways and means to save his allegedly ill-gotten money from the clutches of law. The new Sindh cabinet does not inspire much confidence. It does not have a single soul capable enough to turn Karachi around.
Bilawal has rightly warned the new Sindh cabinet that corruption would be the last thing he is going to tolerate which proves, if any proof is needed, that corruption within the ranks of the PPP is its problem number one. His chances to become the next PM of this country largely depends on the PPP’s showing in Panjab during the 2018 polls. If the PPP loses in Panjab and also doesn’t fare well during the next elections in Sindh it would be wiped off the political scene of the country at least in the near future. PPP’s loss in Panjab is going to be PTI’s gain during the forthcoming polls.
In the KPK the ruling PTI government has certainly taken some positive steps in some sectors of life and the common man feels a change for good in many matters but, obviously, everything cannot be done in a short period of time. One can see the passion for a change quite visible in the deeds of the PTI’s government. The good work done by the PTI is certainly going to yield handsome dividends to this party in the next polls.
