PTIISLAMABAD, August 12: Pakistan Tehreek -e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday formally sought the permission from the district administration to hold its ‘anti-corruption rally’ on August 13(today) as part of its anti-government movement over Panama Leaks.
Member central executive committee of PTI Col (Retd) Younas Ali Raza through a letter written to deputy commissioner, Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA) has demanded permission for the rally that will start from Liaquat Bagh Rawalpindi.
“PTI should be given permission to hold its rally that will start from Liaquat Bagh Rawalpindi on August 13 and culminate on Faisal Avenue of the capital,” says the letter adding foolproof security should be provided for the rally, as a large number of PTI supporters would participate in it. A statement issued by PTI’s central media department says that Chairman Imran Khan will himself lead the rally, while senior leadership and workers will participate in a large number. “It is every political party’s right to stage political activities, while administration is responsible to provide security to PTI,” said PTI leader Faisal Javed Khan in the statement.
He also stated that PTI didn’t require any permission for its political activity; however the party has formally informed the administration regarding its program.
He stressed that Imran Khan would deliver his final address on Faisal Avenue only.
The holding of rallies by PTI in the Red Zone of the capital has remained a bone of contention between the federal government and the party in the past.
The interior ministry had more than once denied PTI giving permission to hold rallies in red zone of the capital but later it was permitted on some assurances.-Agencies
