  • Expresses concern over delay in implementation of development schemes in Peshawar district.

PESHAWAR, January 26: The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has directed for speeding up preparatory process for the construction of Swat Express Way declaring that physical work on the project will be intended in June this year, says a press release.
He issued these directives while presiding over a high level meeting convened to discuss preparatory focus for the proposed project. Those who attended the meeting included Advisor to CM, Akbar Ayub, Chief Secretary ACS, MD PHE, MD BoK Secretary C&W and others.
The Chief Minister was briefed that project would be executed through public private partnership while tender had already floated to invite firm for its construction. The Chief Minister was informed that a number of firms had showed interest in the project while process of evaluation to select a suitable firm for the task was in progress. The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while issuing directives to speed up process to make the project implementable earlier, approved establishment of a Special Project Directorate to make implementation of the project smooth and effective.
It is recalled that 81 km long Swat Express Way will connect motorway from Karnal Shel Khan Interchange to Chakdara to provide easy road access to Malakand Division. Bank of Khyber will provide financial support for the project while private firm will design, implement and maintain the project.
Earlier the Chief Minister chaired a meeting about developmental activities in Peshawar district at the Chief Minister Secretariat this morning. The meeting was attended by District Nazim Peshawar, MPAs hailing from district Peshawar, ACS and high up of the various nation building departments.
He expressed concern over delay in implementation of schemes. He warned that action would be taken against the contractor failing to complete schemes within due time. Similarly he directed recruitment of ex-army men or police personnel on the new posts of security guards of the educational institutions.-PR
