General Rahel Shareef is apple of the eye of all Pakistanis. Reason: Elementary. Professionally he is very sound. He is a go-getter, very down -to-earth, enjoys impeccable financial integrity and belongs to a family of soldiers who had shed blood for the motherland and earned Nishan-Haider. In this materialistic world when many people moving in corridors of power hanker after residential plots galore, he hands over his plots to the martyrs in the Army. He is not interested in wealth and this fact endears him to all and sundry in this country. God always sends men with extraordinary qualities of head and heart in extraordinary situations and our Army chief is one of them. That is the precise reason why the common man is sad as the date of his retirement is approaching fast.
The Army chief has already earned a niche of fame for himself in the world Hall of fame and he has nothing more to prove now. His name will always be written with golden letters in the history books of Pakistan Army.
Let us hope whoever succeeds him would prove equal to the task and he would also carry on his mission with the same zeal grit and determination with which General Rahel Shareef has set it in motion.
POSTSCRIPT: According to a news report Sindh government has promoted four senior officials of local government despite the fact that they stood convicted in corruption cases and managed to come out of jail by coughing out embezzled money to the NAB under the plea-bargain. Why the hell did the Sindh government re-employ these convicted officials in the first place?
