rassLAHORE, August 27: Federal Information Minister Pervez Rasheed has said that Pakistan government could not take any action against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief as he is a British citizen.Speaking to media after visiting a textile exhibition at Lahore’s Expo Centre, Rasheed said that Pakistani government has sent a reference to the British authorities seeking action against their citizen for inciting violence in Pakistan.He added that a number of media channels came under attack following the MQM chief’s speech. “A man in London cannot shut Karachi down now. Earlier, shutter down strikes and transport used to remain off the roads on just one call of the MQM chief but now the situation has changed,” Rasheed added.
“Before 2013 people used to be killed and the businesses closed in Karachi for several days following MQM chief’s inflammatory speeches,” Rasheed said.
He added that situation has improved since the targeted operation has been launched in Karachi and the people living in the city have severed all ties with the MQM chief.
The minister also said that foreign media has also acknowledged the rapid economic development of the country. He added that now the industries not suffering from power outages whereas the federal government has also cut down the power rates.Criticizing PTI, the minister said that Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) led government will continue to launch development projects whereas Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan will keep staging protests and sit-ins.-Online
