Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif has not done himself any service by letting loose his ‘dogs’ on the one hand on Pakistan Army and on the other hand Imran Khan and Tahir ul Qadri.
To set up a propaganda machinery to counter opposition’s criticism and attacks is a legitimate right of every government or ruling party. Even ‘lies’ and ‘half-truths’ can be invented by a propaganda machinery to achieve legitimate political objectives. Of course it is important that the boundaries of legitimacy have to be defined clearly. Even the defense of the Prime Minister’s sinister evasiveness on the issue of Panama Leaks can be regarded legitimate as his future hinges on it. Even the Prime Minister’s mysterious friendship with Pakistan’s enemy number one-Narendar Modi— can be defended legitimately— but when it comes to the country’s very ethos and existence being challenged by the Prime Minister’s allies, the boundaries of legitimacy cannot be allowed to be ‘liberal’.
Letting lose ‘dogs’ on political foes is not a legitimate weapon of propaganda war.
I think Mian Nawaz Sharif should rein in his dogs.
