Speaking at the concluding session of a seminar on the “China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and Gilgat-Baltistan”, the army chief General Raheel Sharif has said: “The army is ready to go to any extent for national security, peace and stability. Let Modi and RAW know that our borders are secure, and we know our enemy and its conspiracies. We will leave no stone unturned to defeat the plots against the CPEC”.
The army chief also declared that the nexus of corruption and terrorism would also be destroyed “Come what may”
Coincidentally the same day our prime minister was in Gwadar and speaking at an inaugural ceremony he spoke of the importance of Gwadar, of the deprivation in Baluchistan, and of the giant strides of his government towards progress. But he once again failed to mention a word about the conspiracies of the RAW and the nefarious designs of Modi regarding Baluchistan.
It is an enigma that our Prime Minister religiously avoids mentioning the names of the RAW and the Indian Prime Minister Modi even on matters that relate directly to sinister activities of the two against this country.
There are rumours that the PM is contemplating about whom to pick General Raheel Sharif’s successor, so that the pressure on him regarding his pursuit of the agendas dear to him are lifted. There are also rumours that he has made an offer to General Raheel Sharif regarding the extension of his tenure. Rumours do spring up in abundance when there is such visible divergence in the manure two key players in the country’s power structure look at the issues of central importance.
Corruption, for example, is not an issue in the eyes of MNS (for obvious reasons), but General Raheel Sharif emphatically links rampant corruption with the menace of terrorism.
The question that is rising in the minds of the baffled common man of Pakistan is: “How does General Raheel Sharif hope to destroy the nexus of corruption and terrorism without enjoying some kind of authority or powers?”
Once he leaves his office, men like Rana Sanaullah etc are going to pounce upon him no-holds-barred.
