Although illiteracy is defined as ignorance resulting from not reading, unfortunately our moral illiteracy is an outcome of not reading the written as well as not reading in between the lines. The biggest drawback of ignorance is the lack of insight of the fact that one is actually ignorant. We have revolutionized the concepts of morals and values. Rather we have replaced the value of morals with factors of the least place value. While getting rid of honesty, we did not consider what it was going to be replaced with. When we shed off the baggage of trust, we were least bothered about what substitute we were going to have there. One by one, to make room for material-money,land and brands, we liquidated the immaterial-love, honour, respect, honesty, faith, generosity, goodwill and an endless list of the assets, we considered redundant in todays life.
Man has not evolved biologically, as Darwin believed, but our societies and cultures did evolve over ages. Although, since the first man has set foot on the earth, he brought the Divine revelations along, and that means all the values and codes of manner and behaviour actually seeped into human dwellings from the Infinite Intelligence, we prefer to believe that our values are a miracle of the sages of all times. Infinite Intelligence is the term, Napolean Hill introduced for the first time, for One Divine Being that some of us can more comfortably call God. Whereas others, who are uneasy pronouncing the word ‘God’, can instead adopt this designation of Infinite Intelligence, for the same.
In the realm of theology, every sacred thought converges on one Divine Principle of God and man, and thus all the values we have learnt as a mankind, emanate from Him alone. In todays capitalistic world, it appears we have come a long way and quite away from our origin, that had anything to do with God. Thus I begin from today, using hind sight only as a tool for retrospective self-justification, as appeals most, to human mind.
It appears to me, the millennial’s fascination with robotics has converted them into mechanistic beings. The millennials in our part of the region have groped in the darkness of a backward culture, for reaching out to light. In this struggle, they lost connection with strong scriptural footholds, they inherited from the proceeding generation. What remained is the skeleton of religion devoid of heart, in the garb of ‘progress’, and advancement. During the gradual ‘ascension’ on the ladder of worldly and monetary success, we kept releasing one after the other the empty fuel carcasses of faith, honesty, trust and all the valuable but heavy assets. We acquired the wings of deceit, treachery, cheating and lying to further propel us on this flight.
Right now, at this very moment, you and I are in the air, knowing well, these wings cannot keep us here for long. The urge to go higher is strong and the behaviour of all of us is becoming riskier. We have chosen to remain indulged in the ignorance of morals. If we become morally literate, we will have to lose height, in many respects. The false pride, does not allow us to look beyond ‘instant relief’. The claws of capitalism clutching tightly at our throats, demand moral illiteracy, be the new way of life. This indulgence is great for a ‘kick-off’, and a high, but this will, in time, turn into a clean wipe-out of human species. ‘The Planet of the Apes’, will become a reality.
